Cirencester is full of wonderful shops brimming with brilliant gift ideas but what we love is that there are such friendly, welcoming people to help you find exactly what you need. Shopping in town means that we get a personable service, experience and staff who really care.

Now more than ever, with the financial and emotional year that’s been foisted upon us, we’re looking at not only supporting local businesses but also buying presents that are meaningful.

There are lots of lovely independent and chain stores offering a range of fabulous products for the home from pieces of art to equipment for a personal gym.

Cirencester Antiques Centre

This fascinating shop, that has been based in the heart of the town for over 20 years, is a magical tardis of treasures. Hosting over 80 traders there are the most incredible pieces in this 16th-century timber-framed building.

There are stunning items to suit every pocket including fine silver, glassware, coins, furniture and huge storage baskets. As you walk through each room you’ll find antique prints and maps, specialist collector’s items, dazzling jewellery, barometers, clothing, delicate china plus books upon books on every subject imaginable.

D&J Sports

For anyone looking to tone up and get their health kick-started, D&J Sports is the place to go.

It has a fantastic range of equipment for anyone who wants to start running or get into yoga or a home fitness gym regime.

They have a great selection of ASICS and Brooks Running shoes and all the clothing you need to go with it. If you’re a beginner then be sure to take advantage of the store’s free Gait Analysis service to get the perfect shoe fit.

Holland Park Press

For anyone wanting to get gifts for book fans, this is the perfect opportunity. This lovely publishing house hosts a number of brilliant works including literary fiction and poetry.

There are fabulous publications in the series including A Sense of Tiptoe, a full collection of poems by Karen Hayes.

The poems were written over a period of time and were inspired by atmospheric locations and local legends.

Other authors in the publishing house includes fiction writer and reviewer Wendy Brandmark and much loved classic Dutch author, Louis Couperus.

SJ Flowers

Many people have found that being unable to travel this year has led them to take a look at spending any potential holiday money they had set aside on their homes instead, particularly by giving gardens a refresh.

This is one of the loveliest finds in town. There’s a warm welcome from owners Phil and Rob and a wonderful range of products to suit every pocket.

As soon as you enter the flag-stoned shop, there are shelves of fabulously colourful home items.

On the walls hang a huge variety of beautiful mirrors (that don’t cost a fortune), a vast array of candles, candlesticks, vintage signs, dog bowls, doorsteps, storage baskets and cute tea light holders.

There are wonderful items of furniture too including painted tables, chairs, cabinets and desks.
